The Power of Play

This 6-hour experiential workshop will provide play therapists with an understanding of Theraplay, integrating attachment theory, Polyvagal Theory, and play therapy principles to support children. Theraplay is a playful, interactive intervention that strengthens parent-child bonding, security, and delight through face-to-face engagement, sensory experiences, and reciprocal activities. Participants will explore the four dimensions of Theraplay (Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge) and learn how each contributes to felt safety, co-regulation, and secure attachment in therapeutic work.

The workshop will include at least eight Theraplay-based interventions for engaging children and caregivers in healing play. A special focus will be placed on Polyvagal Theory, helping participants recognize nervous system states and understand how Theraplay foster’s regulation and resilience. Additionally, attendees will be introduced to the Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) assessment.
