CLINICAL CONSULTATION

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” — CG Jung

Many of us would attest that therapy can be very rewarding and motivating because of the much-needed good it can do in the world. Most of us would also agree that it is difficult and can be taxing on our own. We believe that good professional relationships can powerfully enhance our own well-being and effectiveness.

Connection with trusted colleagues is key to processing our interactions with clients and what is going on within us — which we all need to do!

"Supervision Consultation Group has really given me a place to discuss challenges faced in supervision. I enjoy the ability to discuss solutions to problems faced, with others who take the role of supervisors seriously. The support provided is so important for those of us with limited resources in small communities. "

"Maria is amazing and extremely knowledgeable! I was feeling super defeated and overwhelmed about the RPT application process especially since I started prior to the phase changes. Maria was able to help, we were able to work together to get my application completed and sent in, and as of May 2024 I am a registered play therapist. If I hadn’t sought out Maria for consultation I probably would still be struggling to finish the application".

Maria Laquerre LMFT, RPTS

Maria utilizes the Systems/ Dialectical Model of Supervision (SDMS). SDMS considers aspects of the supervisor-trainee relationship as well as assessing and addressing the developmental level of a supervisee. She believe that how a supervisor responds to a supervisee will transfer into the therapy room and affect how they responds to their own clients. SDMS provides that supervisors and trainees are individual biological systems that are influenced by their biological and social factors, again viewing the individual within a systems concept and being mindful of how that affects their engagement in supervision.

Maria is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Maria chose to complete these additional certifications to further her own skills and she believes that ongoing education and training is vital to all aspects of her profession. To learn more about these certifications, please visit:  www.aamft.org and www.a4pt.org.

“Working with Maria was very easy and a great experience. She is very thorough and made an already confusing experience much easier to understand. I started the consult with a lot of worry and confusion but left the appointment with a weight lifted off my shoulders that I was submitting information that would lead to my RPT™ certification.”
