About the event
This play therapy training explores how children experience divorce, separation, and family restructuring through a developmentally informed and culturally responsive lens. Grounded in Child-Centered Play Therapy and attachment theory, this training highlights how play therapy facilitates emotional expression, identity development, and relational healing for children navigating complex family transitions.
Using a pop culture framework drawn from Disney and Pixar storytelling, participants will examine how themes of loss, loyalty conflicts, emotional silencing, and resilience emerge in children’s play.
Through case vignettes, experiential reflection, and play therapy-based conceptualization, participants will learn how to identify attachment disruptions, support emotional regulation, and apply developmentally appropriate play therapy interventions. This training emphasizes the Therapeutic Powers of Play as a framework for supporting children impacted by divorce, blended families, and shifting caregiving systems.
