Ethics in Supervision

This 6 hour training will cover models of supervision, the roles of a clinical supervisor and the application of our Code of Ethics in our role as Supervisor. We will engage in small group discussions, review our own potential burn out and you will walk away with forms to better support your clinical supervisor role. This training was developed to satisfy the updated Clinical Supervisor requirements for the state of New Mexico.

Training Objectives: 

  • Participants will learn about the various models of supervision, including the reflective supervision model.

  • Participants will analyze and become familiar with the ethical components of the supervisory relationship.

  • Participants will apply the understanding of the varying roles of a supervisor, relying on the applicable Code of Ethics.

  • Participants will discuss the "tough stuff" of being a clinical supervisor and understand the importance of gatekeeping.

  • Participants will learn and apply the applicable Code of Ethics as is impacts the responsibilities of the clinical supervisor.

  • Participants will practice utilizing the applicable Code of Ethics in their documentation of clinical supervision.

Presenter

 

A self-described geek, Maria Laquerre-Diego, LMFT, RPT-S is a CEO and Owner who is committed to increasing access to mental health services and breaking down the stigma surrounding therapy services. As a therapist turned CEO, Maria has developed a unique perspective when it comes to mental health and the barriers surrounding mental health treatment. Influenced by her time at New Mexico State University in the Family and Consumer Science department, and University of New Hampshire’s Marriage and Family Therapy department, Maria has turned her dedication to giving back and supporting future generations of therapists.

 

In addition to supporting mental health providers, Maria takes an active role in addressing the continued stigma of mental health services through the use of pop culture – everything from movies and television shows to superheroes and Disney characters. Maria has spoken about mental health at several local events, has served as an officer on professional boards and has provided training to clinicians all over the country.

Of Note: This is a hybrid training, with limited in person seats available and additional virtual seats via Zoom. If participating via Zoom, it is required that you have your video on and are actively participating in order to earn the offered CEs. Please do not engage in other activities while in this training including driving, driving through for that coffee fix, or rearranging your closet - this training requires your attention and engagement. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and any handouts the day prior to the training.
