Empower Yourself to Navigate the Complexities of Ethical Supervision
Supervision puts you in the room when things get messy: dual relationships, telehealth boundaries, a supervisee in over their head, a cultural blind spot you didn't know you had. This training gives you a framework for those moments before you're in them: how to recognize an ethical dilemma early, work through it, and document your reasoning. You'll leave with a plan you can actually use, not just a stack of code-of-ethics citations.
Participants will be encouraged to share experiences and challenges, and will come away equipped with tools to navigate dilemmas arising in an ever-changing clinical landscape.
This training was developed to satisfy the updated Clinical Supervisor requirements for the state of New Mexico. Open to anyone who supervises, plans to supervise, or wants to think more clearly about the ethical questions that come with it. This is your gateway to acquiring the necessary expertise and credentials to excel as a supervisor in the field.
Learning Objectives
1. Develop a structured plan for identifying and responding to ethical dilemmas in the supervisory relationship.
2. Evaluate their professional code of ethics as it applies to clinical supervision practice.
3. Identify the appropriate steps for ethical decision-making in supervision.
4. Apply ethical standards to telehealth settings and remote supervision scenarios.
5. Describe how cultural identity and cultural differences influence supervisory dynamics.
6. Explain the clinical and professional rationale for ongoing supervision requirements.
Presenter
Thomas Sanchez, LCSW, RPT
Thomas is a licensed clinical social worker who has been working with children and adolescents in Las Cruces for over 10 years in a variety of settings. Since graduating with his Master’s in social work in 2014, he has worked as both a therapist and supervisor in numerous settings. He has worked in Residential Treatment Centers, Group homes, Treatment foster care, school settings, community mental health, private practice and supervised a behavioral management program.
He believes that all people, especially children, are capable of change and with support can achieve success in all areas of life. He enjoys working with youth of all ages and from all different cultures and likes to incorporate strength-based treatment modalities to help them grow.

What if I can't make the training live? We've got you covered! With this event, you can register to attend live or for the recording only and watch it whenever it works for you. All registrants will receive access to the recordings, which will be available for 30 days.
Of Note: If you are attending the online training live, it is required that you have your video on and are actively participating in order to earn the offered CEs. Please do not engage in other activities while in this training including driving, driving through for that coffee fix, or rearranging your closet - this training requires your attention and engagement. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and any handouts the day prior to the training.
This training will provide 6 NBCC CE Credits following successful completion of a post-test. A New Hope Academy has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7816. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. A New Hope Academy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
