Lead the Way: Empowering Supervisors to Connect, Inspire, and Guide the Future
Behind every thriving clinician is a trusted supervisor, someone who doesn’t just oversee the work but fosters a relationship rooted in trust, psychological safety, and meaningful guidance. Many supervisors feel confident in their leadership, yet even the most experienced professionals carry gaps in awareness. What does it really mean for a supervisee to feel safe enough to speak honestly, admit mistakes, and actively seek feedback? How do we know when trust is truly present, and what can we do when it isn’t? This training invites a deeper, more reflective look at the supervisory relationship and how we create space for greater vulnerability, openness, and growth.
Participants will explore how to build emotionally safe supervisory relationships that support both accountability and receptivity. Through topics such as impostor syndrome, self-doubt, case consultation, and specialty supervision, this session explores how effective supervision strikes a balance between empathy and structure, and guidance and flexibility. This training is designed to nurture supervisors in a collaborative learning environment where experiences can be shared, systems can be challenged or refined, and shared insights lead to professional growth. With case-based learning and experiential exercises, participants will leave feeling both supported and stretched, equipped to lead with greater clarity, connection, and confidence.

Learning Objectives
-
Identify and apply strategies to assess and strengthen the supervisory alliance by attuning to relational dynamics and promoting emotional safety.
-
Demonstrate the ability to facilitate open dialogue about professional vulnerabilities, including mistakes, seeking feedback, and receptivity to direction.
-
Evaluate and refine supervision systems and structures to better support the development, accountability, and long-term professional growth of supervisees.
