Wicked: The Shadow and Magic of Jungian Play Therapy
April 3, 2026 | Live Zoom Webinar

Support Children to Reclaim Disowned Strengths & Discover the Magic in Their Inner Worlds
Wicked: The Shadow and Magic of Jungian Play Therapy invites play therapists into a rich, imaginative exploration of how Jungian concepts come alive in the playroom. This presentation blends the transformative themes of Wicked: identity, shadow, integration, and the tension between who we are told to be and who we truly are, with the symbolic, depth-oriented approach of Jungian Play Therapy.
Participants will learn how Jungian Play Therapy provides a developmentally attuned pathway for children and teens to encounter, express, and integrate shadow material in safe, symbolic ways.

Through experiential play therapy activities, case examples, and guided reflection, attendees will deepen their understanding of archetypes, the persona and shadow, the temenos, and the healing function of imagination.
This training will illustrate how Jungian Play Therapy supports children and teens in reclaiming disowned strengths, transforming “wickedness” into wholeness, and discovering the magic inherent in their own inner worlds.
Play therapists will leave with practical, creative play therapy interventions rooted in Jungian theory and designed to foster integration, resilience, and authenticity in the children and families they serve.
Learning Objectives
1. Learn to identify and utilize archetypes in therapeutic play interventions to support clients’ exploration of unconscious processes and personal growth.
2. Demonstrate the ability to integrate the 20 Therapeutic Powers of Play into Jungian Analytical Play Therapy (JAPT) interventions, with a focus on Access to the Unconscious, Catharsis, and Empathy.
3. Develop and apply personalized play therapy interventions using JAPT principles to address individual client needs, including counterconditioning fears and fostering emotional resilience.
4. Articulate the historical development of Jungian Analytical Play Therapy (JAPT), including its foundational theories and key contributors.
5. Identify and define key terminology and concepts of Jungian Analytical Play Therapy, including archetypes, the collective unconscious, individuation, and symbolic play, and explain their application in clinical practice.
6. Cultivate and apply an analytic stance in the playroom—utilizing soft hypotheses, observation of symbolic themes, and reflective attunement—to deepen clinical understanding and guide developmentally attuned JAPT interventions.
